Having by this time moved to the Home Counties (in the late Sixties) I was able better to exhibit in London – usually in the Mall Galleries - and was gratified to receive the Windsor and Newton award for their best oil-painting in the show in 2003.
I feel strongly that, notwithstanding some interesting abstract work, traditional art is best based on drawing and painting from life. I have little patience with the copying of photographs that has almost completely taken over. Indeed, what with that and the on-going Abstract-Expression movement, I fear for the future.
